Organization History

In 2001, an all-volunteer group of residents founded the Tacony Community Development Corporation with the aim of preserving and promoting Tacony’s quality housing stock. In 2011, the Tacony Community Development Corporation incorporated as a nonprofit organization dedicated to historic preservation, quality-of-life improvements and the economic development of Torresdale Avenue – the neighborhood’s primary commercial corridor.

In 2026, the Staff and Board renamed the organization Tacony Together. The new name highlights our dedication to collaboration between the many individuals and organizations that make up Tacony, and our goal to maintain a Tacony neighborhood rooted in community. Today, Tacony Together supports the neighborhood through community planning and design, historic and housing preservation, clean and green programs, arts and culture activities, direct small-business support, housing support, quality of life improvements, environmental projects, and many other activities.
